Amed is located in Baliís east coast around 44 km from the nearest town, Amlapura. Amed as touris destination comprises of several villages namely Amed, Jemeluk, Bunutan, Lipah, Selang and Aas village. Amed is a tourist destination that is suitable for those who longs for a quiet rustic scene and serene place. Most of Amed coastline is still unspoiled with superb sunrise view as well as idyllic ambience an excellent place hideaway especially for those who seek for quietness and laid back atmosphere.
Apart from sunrise watching, Amed is well-known as diving and snorkeling site especially the Japanese wreck at Lipah. The snorkeling zone starts from Amed up to Aas. There are plenty of fish and life coral can be seen in Jemeluk, not to mention Selangís beautiful coral garden and fish. As for scuba diving, Jemeluk, Lipah, and Selang are good diving sites with their colorful fish and coral. Around dusk, do not miss the sunset from the sunset point at Jemeluk. For nightlife, compare to other destinations in South Bali, you can say that there is no nightlife in Amed, save dining with friends, tasting the potent Arak Madu (Balinese local spirit mixed with honey and lime), enjoying live music at Wawa-wewe restaurants or if you are lucky you can watch the traditional genjek performance.
