Pura Bukit Sari or Pura Puncaksari is the name of the temple in the village of Sangeh located in forest of pohon pala (nutmeg trees). This temple was built by the King of Mengwi during the 17th century. Entering this place the visitors must be careful and keep their pockets or bag in order to not be disturbed by the monkeys. It is not clear how the monkey come to this place and how many monkeys there are in this place and they devide themselves into several groups. Each groups has a King.

Sangeh Monkey Forest is located in Badung Regency near Sangeh village, 20 km to the north of Denpasar. This 6-hectare forest  houses giant nutmeg trees capable of growing as high as 40m,  hordes of funny yet wise Balinese monkeys and a temple, Pura Bukit Sari.  The monkeys in this forest are believed to be sacred and friendly but visitors should be aware that these monkeys are attracted to shiny objects, so cameras and jewelery should be left behind or kept well hidden under clothes or in a bag when exploring Sangeh Monkey Forest. Sangeh Monkey Forest is opened every day, from 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM. This This tourism destination has parking area, toilet, art shops, souvenir shops, restaurant, footpath, and others.
